Ian Mitchell

Ian has a passion for business innovation, technology, people, and the environment.

Ian grew up in an entrepreneurial family where business was run from the garden shed and the kitchen table. Ian has an MSc from Bristol University in Macro Economics, Development Administration and Planning, majoring in fair trade.

He went on to consult for the Overseas Development Administration helping SMEs in Kenya and The Body Shop International, working closely with Anita Roddick on Indigenous Intellectual Property Rights.


These exepriences had an impact on Ian as he set up businesses of his own, the first of which was from a humble garage in Bow. Over two decades Ian successfully scaled his businesses through organic growth and acquisitions, employing over 1,500 people.

Running an operation that was always open for every hour of every day for nearly two decades whilst having to meet ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards, PCI and FCA requirements, and operate a high performance culture taught Ian the need to audit differently. This was the start of his journey to next generation augmented audits and AI.

Since selling his business Ian has immersed himself in generating infrastructure tools to enable the GRC and assurance sector deliver more value, whilst driving efficiencies and accelerating progress.

Ever the opportunist and adventurer, he has sailed a yacht to India, travelled around Central America in the 1990’s and drove a Land Rover across Southern Africa.

Ian has a great family around him and an amazing wife who has supported him through thick and thin.

Ian desperately tries to keep up with his daughters on the tennis court and follows his passions for sailing, photography, and sampling the odd pint with anyone willing to put up with his under par jokes.
